Cooperating Entertainers

Five international entertainment organizations and The Veterans Fund are united in a cooperative effort to offer free, dynamic, live shows to America's VA Medical Centers and State Veterans Homes. They are:

  The Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA)
The North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance (Folk Alliance)
The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)
The Society of American Magicians (S-A-M)
  The World Clown Association (WCA)

Representatives from those organizations and the Veteran's Fund met in Washington DC, where they agreed to encourage entertainers to present shows in VA Medical Centers, Domicilaries, and Veteran's Homes.

The national representatives formulated three goals:

1.

To encourage one performing group from each of the five organizations every year to entertain for some interested VA Medical Center and Veteran's Home.

2.

To establish a "national program" of shows in certain months, i.e. Barbershop groups in April, Clowns in August, Magicians in October.

3.

To attempt to schedule groups for special VA events. When VA medical center personnel need a show, they will be encouraged to contact the performance organizations directly or through The Veterans Fund.
